Disabled Representation

Following on from our initial policy report ‘Breaking Down Barriers’, our work on improving disabled representation has spanned across various sectors of society - from Sports to Media, to improving representation in Law and Politics. We have worked with a range of partners across the Disability sector, as well as Local Authorities, charities and the private sector.

    The Accessibility of Local Authorities

    The Rt Hon Robert Buckland MP, former Justice Secretary, raised our recommendations for improved accessibility in Local Government.

    Cross-Party Disability Coalition

    We are working closely with the disability leaders of political parties to improve the representation of disabled people across all of political life.

    Campaign to Improve the Accessibility of Parliament

    Our cross-party coalition is putting pressure on the Speakers of the Commons and Lords about the inaccessibility of Parliament.

    Campaign to Reinstate Funding for Disabled Candidates

    We are working with both our political and charity partners to campaign for funding to be reinstated for disabled candidates.

    With the APPG for Disability and The Shaw Trust, we hosted a Parliamentary Roundtable with various sector leaders, on the Power of Diversity.
