As we enter a General Election year, we are delighted to welcome Mel Kennedy to The Disability Policy Centre team to be the team member dedicated to our research on Accessible Voting.

Mel is a disabled woman with cerebral palsy, and is a PhD student in Politics at the University of Liverpool. She is researching the barriers disabled political candidates face when seeking elected office.

Our research on Accessible Voting, in partnership with WelcoMe, seeks to break down the barriers that disabled people, and people with long-term health conditions face at the ballot box. We will be working with Local Authorities across the country, to create a new standard of national best practice.
