Speaking to the International Finance Corporation about supporting Unpaid Carers in the Workplace

We were recently asked to speak to the International Finance Corporation about supporting unpaid carers in the workplace.

One in seven people juggle paid work and unpaid care, and on average over 600 people a day leave the workforce to provide unpaid care. (Source - Carers UK).

We were invited to speak to the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, about what they can do to support unpaid carers stay in and succeed in work.

Our latest employment research has found that better supporting unpaid carers in employment would add £13bn to the UK economy each year. A reformed welfare system, paid carer’s leave and better employer initiatives, such as flexible working, can support unpaid carers in a variety of sectors.

To support our ongoing research, take our employment survey for unpaid carers. We were pleased to see companies such as the International Finance Corporation take an interest in supporting the carers in the workforce. We look forward to working with other employers who are doing the same.
