Our response to the ‘Get Britain Working’ White Paper
28th November 2024
“We welcome the acknowledgement of the importance of helping disabled people and people with long-term health conditions into meaningful employment, both to improve wellbeing and drive economic growth. In particular, we look forward to engaging fully with the forthcoming independent review into the role of UK employers in promoting health and inclusive workplaces alongside the wider disability sector.
We welcome the ambition to overhaul the Jobcentre system, which the Disability Policy Centre has called for. It is essential that the Government listens very carefully to the disability sector during this consultation, or they will miss opportunities to improve the lives of disabled people, or risk making them worse. This is why it’s critical the Government carefully considers the language it uses in relation to disabled people and the welfare system, to avoid creating further stigma.
We look forward to working with the disability sector to help the Government improve the lives of disabled people, carers and long-term health conditions.”
