Collaborating with the LGA to implement good practice
It was a pleasure to visit The House of Lords a few weeks ago for the Local Government Association’s Parliamentary reception to celebrate the success of local government over the past year.
The Disability Policy Centre is proud to have a played a role in this success through our collaboration on the Good Practise Case Studies report published at the end of last year.
Our report with the LGA captured positive examples in local authorities across England and Wales of co-production with disabled officers and elected members to improve accessibility.
We aimed to demonstrate what “good” looks like and the outcomes from this research with the wider local government sector.
It was fantastic to attend the event and see the impact the report’s findings has already had on officials working in local government, as well as getting to hear about the wider work happening through the LGA’s networks.
We know how critical local government is in helping to shape and support the lives of disabled people, so we very much look forward to continuing to collaborate in this area in the future.
