Dismantling Medical Ableism, with The Peer Medical Foundation

We joined the Peer Medical Foundation to talk about the challenges faced by disabled students, what current and future healthcare providers can do to address this, and about the unique ways medicine can push for inclusive education.

Ableism is the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. At its heart, ableism is rooted in the assumption that disabled people require ‘fixing’ and defines people by their disability.
