Disability Policy Centre Welcomes Robert McLaren to the Team

The Disability Policy Centre is delighted to welcome Robert McLaren to our team, as a Senior Policy Fellow (Technology).

Robert is a leading policy thinker on technology and disability. He is Founding Director of Policy Connect’s ATech (Assistive and Accessible Technology) Policy Lab, based at the cross-party think tank Policy Connect.

Robert’s worked has helped shape policy in areas including the public sector web accessibility regulations, the government’s educational technology strategy, and digital inclusion initiatives during the Covid-lockdowns. Most recently Robert worked with the Disability Unit in the Cabinet Office to co-deliver a series of policy design workshops, which gave rise to proposals for the establishment of a national Centre for Assistive and Accessible Technology. He is also Chair of the Department for Education’s Assistive Technology Engagement Group.

Robert is severely dyslexic himself and is a daily user of assistive and accessible technology.
