Westminster Roundtable On New Employment Report

At the end of 2024 we held an engaging roundtable discussion kindly hosted by Wendy Chamberlain MP, to unpick the recent UK Budget alongside our new report on closing the disability and carers employment gap, ‘Plugging the Fiscal Black Hole’.

Our panellists included report author Arun Veerappan (Non-Executive Director), Dr Cara Molyneux (Senior Research Associate), Helen Walker (Chief Executive of Carers UK) and  Jean-Andre Prager (Former Government Special Advisor on Disability), with additional participants in attendance.

Together we explored practical solutions and policies to make employment more accessible, highlighting the economic benefits of an inclusive approach for everyone.

The discussion was timely, coming shortly after the new Labour Government’s first Budget, and ahead of the Spring spending review, now pencilled for June.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate across the disability sector and with a range of employers to highlight the critical importance to closing the employment gaps for both disabled people and carers.
