The Disability Policy Centre engaging with work and welfare in 2025
This year has been a big one for policy discussions around improving work and welfare for disabled people.
As such, Chloe Schendel-Wilson, Co-Founder and Director of The Disability Policy Centre, took part in two panel events to discuss these critical areas in more detail.
The '2025 Universal Credit Conference: Bridging the Gap for the Socially Vulnerable’ event took place earlier this year, hosted by Government Events and featuring experts including The Resolution Foundation, Resolve Poverty, Bradford District Credit Union, Child Poverty Action Group and others.
The discussion heard about best practice case studies on issues like the latest updates from the new government on Universal Credit, supporting families with Universal Credit programmes, strategies for decreasing waiting times, techniques for supporting overpaid recipients with repayment plans and more.
Also last year, Chloe took part in the 'Supporting Disabled People in the Workplace Conference 2025' to hear experts discuss the latest initiatives and approaches to help your organisation manage and support disabled employees, again hosted by Government Events.
Best practice case studies were shared again on addressing issues such as coproducing policies with disabled staff, adapting to the rise of hidden disabilities and implementing disability inclusive recruitment processes.
We at The Disability Policy Centre are grateful for the opportunity to take part in discussions on such important topics. We look forward to continuing to exchange ideas with fellow experts in the sector on work and welfare in particular in the year to come.
